The joint developers of Smith’s Dock in North Shields, Places for People and Urban Splash, have today announced plans to launch the next phase of apartments for sale at the site - a former historic shipyard which is now being regenerated into hundreds of homes, workspaces, leisure facilities and public areas.
On Saturday 7th July, a sales launch will be hosted on site to unveil the second of the Smokehouses buildings; filled with a range of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom waterfront homes, the apartments will be priced from £125,000 with Help to Buy also available.
The news comes in tandem with the release of a brand new image, which unveils more details about the aesthetic inside the homes. Guy Ackernley, director of residential sales at Urban Splash said: “Since we launched the first Smokehouses for sale a couple of months ago, we’ve had such a flurry of interest from people who want great design in a great location. We’ve decided therefore to release these new homes in the second building now; with a great starting price point and Help to Buy available - which will assist eligible buyers with their purchase - we feel it’s the right time to allow people another chance to move into this growing community.”
The Smokehouses are just one of the residential elements at Smith’s Dock; the three storey, waterfront family Town Houses standing on the Plateau are now complete and fully sold, while earlier this year, 10 George Clarke-designed Fab Houses were also launched for sale.
The launch of the Fab Houses was swiftly followed up with the unveiling of the partners’ site-wide masterplan, with many of the planned residential and public realm phases visible. Guy continued: “The varied composition of properties on offer are testament to how varied we want the community here to be, and of course means we can offer properties across a much broader price spectrum.”
The waterfront Smokehouses comprise of two buildings – designed by architects Simpson Haugh – offer a range of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom properties ready for occupation from early next year.
Concluded Nigel Brewer of Places for People: “Smith’s Dock is such an important regeneration scheme and I am delighted to see the increasing number of launch events we’re hosting as more buildings and homes come to fruition at this site. We’re working really hard to create a fantastic new community - albeit one that’s very deeply connected to the heritage of the original Smith’s Dock - and welcome more residents as they move here.”
The sales launch event will take place on Saturday 7th July from 11am to 6pm; to register your interest or request further details, please contact Rose Miller at Sanderson Young on 0191 580 7999 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
